Applications

How long will my application stay in the teacher recruitment pool?

If you are successful in gaining a position at one of our Northern Territory Government Schools your application will be deactivated.

Otherwise it will remain indefinitely, unless you deactivate your application. For this reason, we ask that you update your details as necessary.

Should I contact a school directly to see if they have any vacancies?

Absolutely.

If you want to work in a particular school, we encourage you to contact the school directly and express your interest. Make sure your resume is up to date and ready to send with referee details.

If I am on a visa can I still apply?

Yes.

As long as you have an appropriate working visa to be employed in Australia.

I am from overseas can I apply?

Yes, as long as you meet the criteria you are welcome to apply.

This criteria will include:

  • having a teaching qualification that is recognised in Australia
  • hold the appropriate working rights i.e. permanent resident, Australian citizen or current working visa to be employed in Australia.

Will I be eligible for relocation entitlements?

Generally, relocation assistance is available to permanent employees and fixed-term (temporary) employees who are appointed for more than six months.

If you are appointed for a shorter time, the department may help with some expenses, including a fare and luggage allowance.

The department does not cover expenses to do with transfers we didn’t initiate or unauthorised arrangements.

I haven’t graduated yet, when can I put my application in the teacher recruitment pool?

Graduates can apply to the teacher recruitment pool once they have received their final practicum report and will be supported by the Teach in the Territory team to understand their teaching preferences. However, will not be made eligible until they have received their teacher registration.
